About the Event

Polio Awareness Week is a coordinated campaign led by the Department of Health to raise awareness about polio immunization and prevention. The Department recommends that children under the age of five be immunized against the most common childhood diseases; dangerous childhood diseases such as measles and polio, which can be fatal in small children, can be most effectively prevented.

Immunizations for vaccine-preventable childhood diseases are provided free of charge at public health clinics.
