Use your mobility for those without it.
Run, ride, swim or walk, competitively or just for the fun of it, and turn it into fundraising and awareness for the rare community. You don't have to be fast. You just have to start.
How it works
1
Pick something to train for
Join one of our team events, or nominate your own. A parkrun counts as much as a 94.7.
2
Set up fundraising page
Your page is set up on GivenGain. We'll help you get it going and give you the words if you're not sure what to write.
3
Train. Tell people. Show up
We send you kit and support along the way. Your friends give because you asked, not because we did.

Events we participate in annually
Two Oceans marathon
Cape Town in autumn, over distances from the fun run upwards. Whatever you enter, you can run it for the rare community.
Swim4Sadie
Our team swim at the Midmar Mile in KwaZulu-Natal in honour of Sadie Penn. Open water, one mile, and a lot of people in speedos.
Doing something different?
Tell us what you're thinking of doing and we'll take it from there.
Why it matters more than a monetary donation
Rare disease is invisible, which is most of the problem. A person in an RDSA jersey at a start line with ten thousand other people is a conversation that wouldn't otherwise happen, and that's worth as much as what you raise.

Many of our ACTIVists ride for someone specific: a child, a sibling, a friend. Some of them are patients themselves. Nobody is checking your times. Participating at the event, is what really counts.
