Speaker Profile

Dr Ushma Mehta

Ubomi Buhle Co-principal investigator, Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Research (CIDER)

University of Cape Town (UCT)

Ushma Mehta is a senior researcher at the Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Research at the University of Cape Town.  She is the co-PI of the UBOMI BUHLE pregnancy exposure registry, which she will be telling us a bit more about. She has worked on several projects aimed at improving our understanding of the safety of medicines used to treat malaria, TB, HIV, vaccine-preventable diseases. In recent years she is focusing on building systems to support the safe use of medicines in pregnancy.  She is a founding member of the SubSaharan Congenital Anomaly Network.
