Adoption of Resolution for Rare Diseases has been passed at WHA78 in Geneva

BREAKING NEWS FROM GENEVA!


The Resolution on Rare Diseases has officially been adopted at the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA78)!


This is a milestone moment for the global rare disease community. The adoption of this Resolution by WHO Member States marks a powerful step forward in ensuring equity, visibility, and inclusion for the 300 million people living with a rare disease around the world.


Rare Diseases South Africa is proud to have been a part of this important global initiative,

— a true testament to the strength of collective advocacy and international cooperation A heartfelt thank you to the 30+ Member States who co-sponsored the Resolution and to the 275 civil society organizations who rallied behind this call. Your leadership and support have made history.


We trust that South African government will support the development of the Global Action plan for Rare Diseases and RDSA remains committed to supporting our National Health Department in its efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage.
