Fundraising Terms & Conditions

By registering to sell Rare Disease Day badges on behalf of Rare Diseases South Africa (RDSA), I confirm that:

  1. Role and purpose

I am participating as a volunteer/community fundraiser to help raise awareness and funds for rare disease patients and families in South Africa. I understand I am not an employee, agent, or representative authorised to enter into contracts on behalf of RDSA.

  2. Badge pricing

Badges are to be sold at R10 each (unless RDSA provides written approval for a different price). Badges may not be resold for profit or bundled in a way that changes their value without approval.

  3. Collection and handling of funds

I will keep badge funds safe and separate and will not use any funds collected for personal expenses. I will provide proof of payment and any information requested by RDSA for reconciliation.

  4. Payment and reconciliation deadline

I agree that by 28 February (or earlier if requested), I will:

    • Pay RDSA the full amount owing for badges sold; and

    • Submit the required sales summary (quantity received, sold, and unsold).

  5. Unsold badges

I understand that unsold badges remain the property of RDSA and must be returned after 28 February (or as instructed). RDSA will arrange the return process (collection or return instructions), and I will cooperate to ensure badges are returned promptly and in good condition.

  6. Stock responsibility

I will take reasonable care of the badges while in my possession. If badges are lost, stolen, or damaged, I will notify RDSA as soon as possible so we can agree the next steps.

  7. Fundraising conduct

I will act respectfully and ethically, and I will not use pressure tactics. I will represent RDSA positively and only share information approved/provided by RDSA.

  8. No cash collection by RDSA staff

I understand that I must pay funds directly into the RDSA bank account/details provided (unless RDSA confirms another method in writing).

  9. Use of name and branding

I may use RDSA campaign materials provided for badge selling. I may not create or distribute unofficial fundraising materials using RDSA branding without approval.

  10. Privacy and POPIA

If I collect any personal information from buyers/supporters (e.g., for delivery or a receipt), I will only collect what is necessary, keep it confidential, and share it only with RDSA for the intended purpose.

  11. Right to revoke participation

RDSA may decline or end participation at its discretion if terms are not followed, or if conduct risks harm to the community or RDSA’s reputation.
