The Rare Diamond Awards were specially created to recognise excellence in the advancement of overall healthcare, treatment and support offered by all those working within the rare diseases space in South Africa – including individuals who have made a positive impact on the rare disease community.
No such national award exists within the healthcare sector, and entries have been welcomed from a wide range of patients, caregivers, industry partners and healthcare professionals.

A judging panel will choose the overall winners which will be announced on the night of the awards, on 15 September.
The Rare Diamond Awards will be attended by some of the leading healthcare professionals and healthcare academia in the country, as well as national newspaper editors, health editors and leading magazines. Other guests will include patients, support groups, industry members and representatives of public relations companies and government.
